Gary Glausser has over 35 years of venture capital, private equity, financial management, investing, lending and public accounting experience. For the past 10 years Gary served as the VP & Chief Investment Officer of Innovation Works, Inc. (IW) and a Managing Director of Riverfront Ventures, LLC where he was part of the senior management team making technology-based investments in southwestern PA. Innovation Works has been one of the nation’s most active early stage technology investors and manages several nationally ranked accelerator programs. Mr. Glausser has been involved in the founding of several early stage venture capital firms and most recently, in 2014, co-founded Riverfront Ventures, LLC an early stage venture capital fund focused on supporting companies in southwestern PA. During Gary’s tenure at IW, the organization invested $95 million into more than 500 regional start-ups which attracted more than 20,000 jobs in southwestern PA.
Prior to joining Innovation Works, Inc., Gary managed the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s $7 billion Alternative Investment Portfolio, comprised of investments in top-tier private equity and venture capital funds. Prior to that, Mr. Glausser was a partner and chief financial officer of two regional venture firms that collectively had over $200 million of capital under management. He began his career at PwC, providing audit and consulting services to companies in a variety of industries and was the author of a firm publication entitled Buying & Selling a Business.
Gary also served as a board member and president of several professional organizations including the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, Financial Executive International and the Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association. Gary was also founder of the Three Rivers Venture Fair. He has also served on the board of a large regional hospital and on numerous technology company boards. Gary holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from John Carroll University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
